Outside Stockholm, the Swedish waste management company Ragn Sells has established a factory. The purpose of this factory is to extract minerals from fly ash. Fly ash is a residual product from waste incineration and is classified as hazardous waste. Through a process, named Ash2Salt, the fly ash is converted into valuable minerals such as:
• potassium chloride
• sodium chloride
• calcium chloride
• ammonia sulphate
The climate footprint of circular minerals from the Ash2Salt process is 90% lower than current solutions when used locally.
