Ready for Birkeland Businesscenter
GC Rieber Eiendom will establish a business park with up to 3,000 jobs at Birkeland in Fana. The area will be within walking distance of the bus terminal and the planned Bergen Light Rail line from Rådal to Flesland airport.
The businesspark will have a green and environmentally friendly profile – not just because of its proximity to public transport, but first and foremost because of how the buildings are designed and placed in this beautiful landscape. The plan is to build nine buildings that will primarily be used as offices, but there are also plans to include a hotel, conference premises, cafés and restaurants and a gym. Market demand will determine how much space is used for the different purposes.
GC Rieber Eiendom has held an architectural competition to ensure that it has a comprehensive plan for utilising the plot in line with the overriding goals of business development and infilling in the Sandsli/Kokstad area. The winning draft from Bergen companyhlmarkitektur, in cooperationwith landscape architect Terje Kalve, places the biggest concentration of buildings to the south, near Flyplassveien road and the western ring road. On the eastern part of the plot, near the traffic hub, an 18-floor high-rise will be built.
The business park is adapted for infrastructure development. In the zoning plan, the area between Birkelandsvannet lake and the plot of land in question is reserved for the western ring road project, and public transport coverage in the area is good due to the proximity to the bus terminal at the Birkelandskrysset junction. The new Bergen Light Rail line fromRådal to Flesland airport will probably have a stop in the area. Good accessibility for cyclists will also be ensured.
